Seeing You Multiple Times

Seeing You Multiple Times

We often don’t know what draws people to us. Here at our ministry center in Brno, sometimes it’s the desire to learn English or to find community. Regardless, we pray that people will see Jesus living in us and want that in their own lives. This has been true for one of our new students, Sara*.

Sara* is a woman we met through a mutual believing friend. Because of their connection, she came to our English camp with her daughter when this believing friend invited her. After camp, and after meeting more Americans, she was drawn to learn more English, so she joined one of my English classes. This wasn’t enough for her, so she’s become a regular attender of our Conversation Club each week. On top of that, she’s attended a couple special English workshops we offered. Most weeks, we end up seeing her two or three times.

One of the English workshops she attended was one that we offered on grief and loss. Sara* seemed interested, but not overly so.

Little did we know that Saturday’s workshop stirred some things in Sara*, and it led to her opening up more with our mutual believing friend a couple days later. She shared some grief and loss that she’d been ruminating on in the days following the workshop. At the end of their time together, our friend asked if she could pray for her, and Sara* agreed. She had never been prayed for out loud and couldn’t keep from tearing up.

Sara* later attended another workshop given by another colleague, Matt. She enjoyed the content of the workshop, but she was more interested in Matt’s teaching style. She asked him if he taught other times, promising that she’d come to anything else he was teaching. It just so happens that he’s the pastor of the international church, which meets at our ministry center.

In keeping her promise, she started attending church, just to hear the pastor. By the end of the month, she’d come to church with her whole family!

We are praying that the multiple connections with Sara* and people who love Jesus will make an eternal difference in her life. It’s such a joy when we can see a bit of how God has already been working.
