Leaving an Impact for Generations to Come
When is the last time you talked with your loved ones about your will and estate planning? For most of us, it’s the conversation we never have. Since August is National Make a Will Month, it’s the perfect time to start these conversations.
Creating a will ensures your values are protected, your dependents are cared for and your loved ones are spared unnecessary heartache and expense. Your will can also be a meaningful way to communicate what’s most important to you, like reaching the unreached with the gospel.
This is the goal of Global Partners – to reach the unreached by launching and growing local churches in global communities. We exist to reach the 4 in 10 people who live without access to the gospel.
And everyone has a role in this mission! Some go, some pray and many give.
While some people give generously throughout their lifetime, others also choose to leave a lasting legacy by including organizations like Global Partners in their will. Legacy gifts like these maximize their impact far beyond their lifetime. That means more people will hear the Good News and have hope-filled life with Jesus for years to come.
Here are some questions to jumpstart your planning. If it’s possible, we encourage you to discuss and share these questions with your loved ones.
- How do you want to be remembered? This can feel overwhelming. Start small by picking three attributes and build from there.
- What are the most important lessons you’ve learned? Share your wisdom and the experiences that have shaped you.
- What values do you want to pass on? You have principles that guide the decisions you make.
- What stories do you want to share with future generations? Think about how you came to faith in Christ or ways God showed His faithfulness to you.
- What people and organizations embody the values you’ve identified by answering these questions? Because their values align with yours, this list of individuals and institutions is a natural place to find your executor, guardian of your children, and beneficiaries of your estate.
We all have a role in the mission to reach the 4 in 10 people who live without access to the gospel. The mission needs all of us – at every stage in our life journey. Thank you for leaving a lasting legacy and playing an active role in the Great Commission until everyone, everywhere has access to life with Jesus.
