The Power of Prayer
Each of us has a role in reaching the 4 in 10 people who live without access to the Gospel.
While financially giving to fuel the mission, and going to serve cross-culturally are both vital roles, praying also strengthens and multiplies the spread of the gospel – more than we’ll ever know in our lifetime.
Scripture tells us to “carry each other’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2), urges that “petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people” (1 Timothy 2:1) and “with confidence draw near to the throne of grace” (Hebrews 4:16).
Praise God for hearing our prayers!
Our missionaries have teams of prayer partners on top of family, friends and churches who are consistently intervening on their behalf. We have seen firsthand how prayer has helped to sustain, empower and inform the work that our missionaries are doing around the world.
While we try to keep our partners informed with what is taking place around the world through channels like The Amplifier, we also find value in focusing on the specific prayer requests of our missionaries and their teams. That’s why we share our bi-monthly email, The Prayer-Net.
With this email, recipients learn more about what our missionaries are focusing on and what their specific needs and prayer requests might look like.
In the last couple of months, one Prayer-Net focused on the needs of a family serving in Central Europe, which informed Barry Ross just what to pray for.
He wrote: “I spent some time in prayer for them this morning. Without this Prayer-Net letter I could not have known to pray for them. Keep these letters coming!”
Several recipients have been dedicated prayer partners for years, eagerly anticipating how they can specifically pray for those on the field. Ester Crank is one of those wonderful prayer partners.
“We are very anxious to learn about the needs of the precious ones who take the good news to the world,” Ester wrote. “I want to learn all that I can about God’s work. The articles written by employees of our mission department are very exciting.”
And Beverly Hudson wrote, “it’s a real privilege to pray for specific needs.”
If you’re not already subscribed to the Prayer- Net, we encourage you to do so. Not only will you receive bi-monthly emails with specific requests, you can also go online to print bulletin inserts or announcements to keep the rest of your church informed.
Simply visit gponline.org/pray-with-us/. Under the current Prayer-Net, there’s a “Sign-Up” button that will subscribe you to these requests. Or, scan the QR code!
Thank you for partnering with our missionaries in such a powerful, necessary way. Your role is such an important one when it comes to reaching the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ!
